This site is coordinated by Anna Larson and Noah Coburn. They have been working in Afghanistan on elections, politics and governance since 2005 and are authors of Derailing Democracy in Afghanistan: Elections in an Unstable Political Landscape, which analyzes the ways in which Afghanistan’s 2009 and 2010 elections actually undermined democracy in the country.
Anna is an independent researcher on fragile states with a doctoral from the University of York.
Noah is a political anthropologist at Bennington College. His earlier book, Bazaar Politics, was the first full-length ethnography of Tajiks in Afghanistan.
